Garden
Growing our Community

The Community Garden provides a hands-on experience of working with plants, insects, and pollinators, offering a deeper connection to nature. Featuring predominantly California native plants, the garden encourages us to explore the history and values of Native Americans as well as their relationships with the Earth, fostering a greater appreciation for the knowledge and wisdom embedded in the natural world.
Through volunteer-led gardening sessions, participants not only build relationships with each other but also form a broader connection with the diverse life forms in the garden, cultivating respect and appreciation for its beauty. The garden also promotes sustainable practices and highlights the value of plant materials, insects, and pollinators in enriching our environment.
Planting the Seeds for a Greener Future: Point Blue
New Village Oakland proudly partners with Point Blue, whose generous support empowers our community garden to bring vital nature conservation and advocacy to the heart of the city. Together, we're cultivating a greener future where healthy ecosystems benefit both wildlife and our urban community.

We had a great time spreading mulch and spreading the love for our almost-ready garden. Our community members gathered on a gorgeous Saturday morning to get the job done.
