Community Building
at the Heart
Nestled in the heart of East Oakland's Clinton neighborhood, New Village Oakland is more than just a space—it's a vibrant hub where community connections flourish. Founded by Tae Ha, a first-generation immigrant with a passion for both child psychology and landscape design, our center is the culmination of a vision to create a welcoming and empowering space for everyone.

Inspired by the power of community resilience, Tae Ha envisioned a place where neighbors could gather, learn, and grow together. Building on the foundation laid by the neighboring Xochi the Dog Cafe, New Village Oakland expands this vision, creating a dedicated space for community enrichment.
Our Vision: A Village for Everyone

"We need a space to bring people together, we need a village," says Tae Ha. This sentiment drives our mission to create a space that fosters a sense of belonging and empowers our community.

New Village Oakland is designed to be a multi-faceted resource, offering:

-
A Community Garden: A space for neighbors to connect with nature, grow food, and learn about sustainable living.
-
A Creative Art Space: A platform for local artists to showcase their work, host workshops, and inspire creativity.
-
A Versatile Event Space: Perfect for community gatherings, workshops, celebrations, and educational programs.
-
A Resilience Hub: A safe and supportive space to learn about emergency preparedness and access resources during times of need.

Our goal is to create a sustainable space that minimizes our environmental footprint and serves as a model for community-driven sustainability.
Looking Ahead: A Replicable Model

We envision New Village Oakland as a replicable model for community resilience and empowerment. By creating a space that is both welcoming and resourceful, we hope to inspire similar initiatives throughout Oakland and beyond.
